How do I know if my insurance covers it? What is their purpose? For patients who are unable to get out of bed for long periods of time. To keep blood moving to each part of their body, the mattresses will constantly change pressure throughout the cells. This changing pressure helps to prevent bed sores from developing on the patients’ body. What are the options available? Depending on the length of time a patient will stay in bed, there are a few options available. Bubble pad, cell mattress, cell on cell mattress. What are the differences? What are the safety cautions? Since the beds are inflatable, be sure no sharp objects come near the mattress to prevent tearing. Keep hot objects away from the mattress to keep it from melting. Be sure to check all plugs and connectors to ensure the mattress is receiving the needed air provided by an attached pump. Do not get liquids on the pump at any time. How do I clean a mattress?
