What is the purpose of canes?
Canes are to provide stability to the user when walking, standing or sitting. If the user has a hurt leg, the cane will be used on the opposite side to provide relief.

What options are available?
Canes are available for left or right hand and come in folding styles, come with various handles and also with one or four prong tips.

What are the differences?
For users requiring additional stability, four prong or quad canes are available. The cane stands on its own, but weighs more than a walking cane. If a user needs minimal assistance a standard walking cane should be sufficient. Some canes are available with a curve in the shaft meant for additional support. The various handles and colors are available by preference.

Can I adjust the height?
Yes, most canes are height adjustable with little pins in the back or side of the cane.

What safety precautions are there?
Do not attempt to use the cane on stairs to prevent possible injury. Make sure the height adjustment is the correct height and is securely locked before using. Take small steps especially when first utilizing a cane. Be sure to inspect the tips of the cane regularly and replace as needed.
